Get RocketCop for Free
First, we want to give you a copy of our new game. But hopefully more interesting for developers, is the process we're using to do this.
Get RocketCop Here. The app itself is free, but contains an in-app purchase to unlock all the levels. After installing, click the SwappIt button, and enter the code GETCOP. That will get you the in-app purchase and unlock all the levels for free.
SwappIt: Give a Free Copy to a Friend
That game is what inspired this idea. When it was released in the App Store, it pretty much vanished without anybody discovering it and got virtually no downloads. So we thought about how to spread the word and came up with the idea for what we're calling SwappIt.
The game is free and has an in-app purchase to unlock more levels. We added a system so everybody who buys to unlock the levels also gets a unique code. They then can give that code to anybody else, the 2nd person simply has to enter the code into the game and it also unlocks all the levels for them too--for free. So everybody who buys can give a free copy of the game to a friend. Promo codes on steroids.
Our SwappIt idea would hopefully let an app become more viral, with buyers having something of value to share with a friend. Friends getting the app free still increase the downloads, and the app gets more visability with more people who can show it off.
A couple of our other games have added it too, A Bee Sees and Knife Dancing. Maybe it's worth the $0.99 investment to buy one of those so you can see how the user-process works :)

The codes a user gets by purchasing work only one time. But we can create codes like that GETCOP one that don't expire after a single use--so they can be posted on pages like this, or to twitter, or anything. (So feel free to tell others about this page, or that GETCOP code to get the game for free!)

* The SwappIt name? Swap was where I started, but of course that sort of domain name is long gone. That extra P makes APP in the middle which I liked, and I was using it as shortened "ShareWare APP", but also could be an acronym for "Share With Another Person, Please".
